UPDATE: The name of their shampoo from Big 3 to Big 5

In this review, we will go over ingredients of Lipogaine Big 3 shampoo and how it can help with hair loss. This shampoo is carefully formulated to prevent thinning hair and further hair loss by naturally blocking the formation of DHT in the scalp.

Ingredient highlights

The new version of Lipogaine shampoo removed some ingredients from the original formula (Ketoconazole, red clover extract, etc.) and added a lot more natural ingredients known for stimulating hair growth. Here are some highlights:

Saw palmetto

Saw palmetto is the most popular herb known for blocking DHT. Studies show that whether it’s a topical application or supplemental route, it helps with preventing further hair loss. Also, the extraction method makes a huge difference when it comes to the potency of saw palmetto. Read this article for detail.

Caffeine

The 2014 study from the British Journal of Dermatology notes that a topical application of caffeine can promote cell proliferation leading to the extended anagen (active hair growth) phase.

Emu oil

Emu oil is known to stimulate frontal hair growth. Dr. Michael Holick discovered that the topical application of emu oil helps with reawakening dormant hair follicles and increasing skin thickness (Click here to read more details about the research and find out how to use it on your own hair).

Biotin

Biotin is an essential vitamin for keeping healthy hair follicles. Most shampoos now contain biotin as one of their ingredients.

Ketoconazole

(Ketoconazole is removed and substituted with coconut oil and tee tree oil in the new formula)

Ketoconazole an effective ingredient for preventing fungus growth on the scalp. Hair loss can be caused by fungal infections (such as ringworm, folliculitis, etc) developed in one region or all over the scalp. Using Ketoconazole topically (usually 1% is contained in an over-the-counter shampoo), you can eliminate this issue. Most dandruff shampoos you see also include ketoconazole as the active medical ingredient.

Other hair growth ingredients

Nettle extract, cedarwood oil, sage oil, black castor oil, and argan oil (Scroll down for the complete ingredients list).

The Lipogaine Big 3 hair loss shampoo is also free of harsh chemicals (which is something you expect to see from hair loss shampoos nowadays).

Takeaway

Ingredients speak for themselves!

If you are looking for a good quality hair loss shampoo with decent ingredients, Lipogaine Big 3 shampoo is a great candidate. Formulated with a “big” list of hair growth stimulant ingredients (Total 17 natural DHT blocking agents!), this is an ideal option to use for your hair loss regime.
